It’s August of 2011, and I am embarking on a quest to fill supple young minds thirsting for new knowledge, experience, and wisdom…or I could just be scrambling to keep rambunctious, hormone infused middle schoolers in line.
My name is Laura, and I’m a full time teacher in Phoenix, Arizona. After surviving my fist year of teaching in Florida, getting married, and moving across the country, I’m diving into Round 2 as a musician in the public education system. I currently work at two different schools within the same district, teaching Elementary General Music (4th-6th grade), Music Technology (7th-8th grade), and Chorus (7th-8th grade). Though I have a full year of teaching under my belt, it often feel as if I’m still “playing school.”
These are simply my accounts of the year at hand. My triumphs, my frustrations, and everything in between.
